YOU Are A Genius!

In Grade 4, we are starting on an exciting adventure this year called Genius Hour. Students will be in charge of their own learning, answering inquiry questions with research-based strategies. I am so excited to see the independent learning that takes place!

So now we need to think... what question do you want to answer??? Go to the padlet wall I have linked to below and tell use the questions you are interested in!

A Grade Three Wonder...

We are learning about hearing and sound in Science class right now, and it has led to some really great
conversations. Today we were talking about the one thing all musical instruments have in common - they all use vibrations to make sound.
Tyler was wondering what the largest musical instrument in the world is. We found it!
The largest musical instrument is a pipe organ in Atlantic City. Check it out at the link below!

If The World Were A Village...

Today we watched a video called If The World Were A Village. We had to imagine that the world was made of 100 people! We were very surprised by some of the facts we learned. Did you know that if the world were a village of 100 people...

... only 1 would have a university education?
... 75 would be able to read and write?
... 24 would have enough food to eat?
... 32 would be Christians?

This told us a lot about how quality of life is very different around the world. We also felt very lucky to live the lives we do!

Amazing Grade Threes!

Today we read the book Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman. It has a great message about reaching your goals. Grace learns that if she puts her mind to it, she can do almost anything, even when people make her doubt herself.  The Grade Threes are now writing about their own goals and how they can achieve them.

You can listen to the book Amazing Grace in the video below!
