Lights, Camera, Action Figure!

This week our science challenge is to build action figures that can move their arms and legs at the joints. We watched this Star Wars video to get us in the mood!

Stay tuned for pictures of our action figures later this week!

Which city is it?

Commander Hadfield just posted a photo from the space station. It's a shot of the capital city of one of the countries we are studying.
Any guesses???

Thanking Our Community

Last week, the Grade 3s completed their community project for the month. Each student chose a business or community member who they wanted to thank. We baked cookies, made thank you cards, and hand delivered our thanks to these deserving people.
We found out that it's just as much fun to give as it is to receive. It was a blast!!!
Thanks to all of the volunteers that helped us out!

Help a Lady Out!

Hey 3s! I need your help today! Please go to the Wallwisher Wall below and paste  a sticky note telling me the kinds of ways you like learning about our world. I am going to share this with teachers at Teacher's Convention, so tell it to them straight!

On Thursday, we are wearing toques and sweaters to school so that we can turn down the heat and save some energy in our schools.
What is something you could do at home to help save energy and keep our planet a little happier?

Our Latest Kiva Loan!

This month, our Kiva borrowers paid back enough money so that we were able to reloan out some of our funds. We chose to loan to Merab in Georgia. Merab lives with his two sons and his daughter-in-law. Merab and his son work as artisans, but make little money and have poor living conditions. To get them out of this situation, Merab wants to buy a car and start a taxi service in his area. We felt for Merab and appreciate that he wants to make a better life for himself and his family.
Good luck Merab!
