Our 19th Kiva Loan!

Today the Grade Threes were able to loan out some money that was repaid to our Kiva account. We chose to loan money to Ulalia, a farmer from Samoa.
Ulalia is a 36-year-old married woman with 6 children. She has a small plantation and grows yams, taro, taamu and bananas to earn a living. She has been doing this for many years. Ulalia has requested a loan to pay for taro seeds, taamu seeds, a grass-sprayer, chemicals, a knife and a rake for her business.
We think she was a GREAT choice for our latest loan!

What do YOU know about India???

In Social Studies this year, the Grade Threes will be comparing four different countries: Peru, Ukraine, Tunisia, and India.
We have been focussing on India for the last week or so, and I would love for the Grade Threes to share some of what they have learned.

Explain what this picture tells us about the QUALITY OF LIFE in India.
You could investigate what it tells us about:
MOBILITY
SAFETY AND PROTECTION
POPULATION
or another aspect of quality of life you notice in the photo.

Remember to use STRONG sentences. First names only please!

Perfect for inquiring young minds...

One thing that has really stuck out to me about this class of Grade Threes is their NEED (want is not a strong enough word) to know the "why" of everything. This, I totally love about them. What a great group of kids, who know how to think for themselves and ask themselves the tough questions! So I found this website, and KNEW it was right for the Grade Three class!

Welcome to the blog 2/3s!

Hi there!

I am so happy you guys are here. I loooove to read comments on the blog from all the students. It is great to hear what you have to say.
You can comment at school or at home - you could even teach your parents how to write comments!

For your first try, I would love to hear about what you are excited about for the upcoming school year.

Remember the steps to writing a good blog comment:
1. Use full sentences.
2. Check your spelling.
3. Use your FIRST NAME only.

Thanks! I am really excited to hear from you!
